My passion for photography comes from being given the opportunity to document some of the most important moments in the lives of my clients. I repeat over and over again to people who ask why I do it that I know what my parent’s wedding photos look like and I know what my grandparent’s do, too. I have glimpses of their childhoods through photos and I have record of mine. It’s powerful, powerful stuff.
While snapshots are important, I know that through my camera I can capture stunning artistic images that both capture the essence of the people I’m shooting and that will stand the test of time. Images that my clients proudly hang on their walls and display in their albums.
And, on that note, more often than not I am able to capture images and moments that otherwise would have never been captured.
A few weeks ago I posted the maternity pictures of Stacy who was due with her first baby last week. And, last Thursday, I had the honour of attending and documenting the home birth of her very beautiful baby girl.
These are images that would have never been captured if not for my presence. They are also images that will be cherished for the entire lives of this new family. They are true photojournalism at its finest, and I still cry everytime I see them.
With the blessing of the family I am sharing the slideshow for those of you who would like to see it. It’s been edited for modesty, but it’s still a birth and there are some very graphic frames so some may choose not to view it.

I was playing today and was able to figure out how to imbed our slideshows right into the blog! There are big versions of course, too, but isn’t it cute when it fits right here?
Hit the link below to start the show, to stop it it’s the link in the very bottom right corner of the slideshow.

Bradley & Monique are getting married in August. We did their engagement photos recently at Granville Island and on the beach across the way via the mini ferry!
These two are so obviously very in love and we can’t wait to take their wedding images later this summer. Enjoy!

To the Theatre!
Robyn & Chris were married last weekend and wanted something a little different for some of their images - they wanted them done in a theatre!
We were able to arrange it with the Abby Arts Centre in Abbotsford and so we headed out to get creative. There are so many more from the wedding that I look forward to sharing once we’re done processing them, but I wanted to get a few of the theatre ones up for you to see now.
Cheers!

Erika & Vermont are to be married in August. These two are just so obviously in love and have such a simple, classic look - I can’t wait to see how they look on the wedding day!
We’ll look forward to sharing those images as soon as they’re available!

Dana & Glenis will be getting married later this month and we recently spent some time in Gastown for their engagement session.
Not ones to be wooed by the traditional wedding venues, we’ll be heading out for dinner to Wild Rice before hitting Shine Night Club for some dancing!
Can’t wait to see what else they have planned - and to share some of the pictures here!

I just received an email from Lynn, one of our brides from April 2005 (you can see a shot from Lynn’s wedding in the Raves section of the website). I wanted to share it with you as it’s the kind of feedback I love to get!
Thanks for the note, Lynn!

Hey Miranda
I have been meaning to drop you a note for a couple of weeks to tell you a quick story.
A couple of weeks ago I had breakfast with a coworker. I decided to bring my wedding album since I’d never had the chance to show her.
She is looking through the album, and she starts crying, and her comment was that the pictures were just so beautiful! It made her feel like she was right there with us, and she also said we look totally in love in them!
That to me is even more validation of the great work you guys do!
Just thought I would let you know…
Lynn

I’m almost caught up with all the great images I’ve been wanting to blog, but in the meantime I wanted to share this quick anecdote!
There are about as many different styles of photography out there as there are photographers. As such, we keep close tabs on what is happening in advertising, media, fashion, and film to gain our inspiration which in turn allows us to consistently deliver fresh and sassy images to each of our clients. And, yes, the rumour that Reilly subscribes to Fashion Magazine *is* also true
On that note, we met with Miranda and Mark recently whose wedding we did in May. They relayed the cutest comment from an older family member that both affirmed some of our style influences and at the same time reminded us that no matter what you do - whether you are a true journalistic photographer posing nothing all day long, somewhere in the middle as we are, or an accomplished traditionally influenced photographer posing every shot to ensure perfect composition and lighting - that there will always be people your work resonates with and those that it doesn’t.
So, of course, the comment after viewing the images that we had done for these guys was “I don’t like the way your photographer took your pictures. Everything looks like it’s out of a magazine advertisement, like you’re trying to sell something!”
Of course, we took this as a compliment as it means that those style influences seem to be shining through quite well! Miranda & Mark are thrilled with their images and we’ll be sure to get copies of some of the more formal group shots to that relative so that everyone is happy - I’m sure we can find a few that look a little less magazine-like!
You can view Miranda & Mark’s photos and slideshow by scrolling down to the May 21st & June 15th blog entries.

Luella & Pat snagged the very popular 07/07/07 date with us earlier this year. After spending some time running around Granville Island to get these engagement shots we’re even more stoked about the wedding next summer!
