We met up with Vicky & Dave over the weekend for their engagement photos. We completely lucked out with spectacular skies! We chased the sun around for a while and captured some great stuff with the city lit behind them in addition to hitting the beach and a couple urban spots. Love it!
Some of my fav images were for a project for the wedding, but I’m keeping those ones hush hush so the guests will be the first to see them. I’ll share those after the wedding in June
Take care, guys! Chat soon!

On the topic of news, one of our photos along with a great article on Cinnamon & Galib’s wedding is currently out in the January 17th issue of the Georgia Straight! We were honoured when contacted by the reporter looking to feature our work, and these two were the perfect couple for the story.

I just went through the process of applying for renewal and being accepted for another year with the WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association). I was talking about it with someone recently and mentioned that I had 2 images place in the contests this year - and was reminded that winning awards doesn’t actually mean anything if I don’t tell people it happened, and to stop being so modest
While we’ve been having a great time lately with really unique and fun portraits, the core of what we do has always been capturing moments. The real stuff - the tears, the looks, the excited tension in the room while the girls are getting the last of their makeup done. The kind of images that cause people to laugh spontaneously or tear up when they see them, in some cases when they don’t even know the couple. That is the root of what we do.
The two images that I had place are definitely on the lighter side of things as make-you-laugh real moments, and the judges seemed to enjoy them! These images placed 3rd and 4th respectively in their categories earlier this year from hundreds of submissions.

On Thursday this week we had the chance to head over to the vendor kick off party at WED Bridal. In one word, WOW!
WED is Vancouver’s newest bridal store with hot hot gowns and a great atmosphere. They have large private rooms for you to change in with plenty of room for your closest girlfriends to hang out with you to see the show. Needless to say, I *highly* recommend giving Jo-Anne & Gemma a shout when you’re on the hunt for the perfect dress!
It was nice to see so many of our favourite vendors and to meet a few new folks, too. We left our camera at home, but Brian Noppe took these great shots! Thanks Brian for being the photographer for the rest of us
Check out Brian’s fantastic work at his site and see more of his WED kick off pics on his blog.
Cheers!

What a way to end the year!
Marten & Michelle’s Hotel Vancouver New Year’s Eve wedding was the perfect end to a fantastic year. Way to pull it off!
These two are jetsetting their way off to their new home in Dubai, so it was in many ways as much of a wedding as it was a going away party. Clearly, they won’t be forgotten!
We are always honoured when fellow photographers hire us to photograph them, and this was no exception. We were sure to capture the evidence that Marten really can’t let go of the camera though - we’ve got shots of him shooting Michelle as well as his camera in a prime, head table position
Here are some of my favs

The Bridal Party - all 17 of them!

One of my favourite parts about winter is that it’s dark by 4:30, meaning lots of great night shots! Here are 3 from our quick session under the bridge. As they are moving away, we wanted to get photos of the Vancouver skyline.

Who needs time to plan a wedding when you can just whip something together in just a few months?
Guys - you pulled it off seamlessly!
I ADORED the personal touches with the handmade felt boutonnieres and the 1000 paper cranes which extended to the ring bearer “pillow” and the flower girl baskets. Everything was just so uniquely you.
Here are a few of my favourite highlights!

Yan & Darian had probably the most unique wedding date of the year - Christmas Eve!
They gathered with their friends and family at the Fairmont Waterfront for an evening of elegance and warmth among those close to them. Everything was gorgeous and Yan looked amazing
These two are off on a bit of a European tour for their honeymoon, but the plan is to get together for even more images in their after session - so keep your eyes opened for more of this pair!
