New Site Live!

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 30th, 2008

OK Folks, v1.0 of the new Blue Olive site is up!

The matching blog and new gallery images (most of those you`ll see were on the previous version) will come after our trip, I`ve simply run out of time!

The new site has bigger images, way more info on us and what we do as well as some of our fancy pants products, and is about a million times better from a technology perspective for a whole bunch of reasons.

If you use Firefox and have your text size increased things will work but won`t look as slick, but other than that I think it`s pretty damn sweet. Let us know if there are any glitches that I missed.

Sybel & Alfred’s Granville Island Engagement Session

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 29th, 2008

Granville Island is such an awesome location simply because there are so many different ways and places to shoot! No two sessions are ever the same.

This shoot was a blast, starting with lunch right through to sneaking photos in Sybel’s parent’s candy shop to getting to meet Rambo the dog. Their Sutton Place wedding in July is definitely one to look forward to. Can’t wait!

And - of course - Reilly needed to scratch his climbing bug, so I’ve thrown 2 shots in from his vantage point up a tree :P

Ben & Ange’s Urban Engagement Session

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 22nd, 2008

We’re really looking forward to Ben & Ange’s wedding in July. We had a great time exploring the streets of Gastown and East Van to find just the right spots for the perfect shots.

Thanks for braving the wind, guys! The photos are super hot… here are just a few, can’t wait to share the rest!

Tracey & Jonathan’s Vancouver Portraits

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 21st, 2008

It’s always an honour when other photographers ask us to shoot them, and all that much more fun when they are friends, too.

Tracey & Jonathan braved the cold wind and Reilly’s 4×4 driving dreams (in a car that is so not a 4×4) last week for a series of portraits.

Looking forward to seeing you guys again soon! Here are just a few of our fav shots!

Sandi & Kevin’s Family Portraits

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 21st, 2008

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since doing Sandi’s maternity photos! Natasha & Nathan are a tonne of fun, and a huge bundle of energy. I was excited to finally meet them recently. They definitely have their own very distinct personalities, and I can see that they’re going to be quite a pair when they are older!

Here are a few of my fav shots!

Pat & John’s Hycroft Wedding

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 21st, 2008

Pat and John were married at the beginning of the month at Hycroft Manor (The University Women’s Club). Hycroft is probably my most favourite wedding location here in Vancouver… the architecture is stunning, and I love that there are so many rooms and places both indoors and out for guests to mingle in and wander through. Love it!

Highlights of the day started with the gorgeous red gown and extended right to the individual cakes for each table of guests. I decided to pull together a bunch of photos to give just a taste of the day through our eyes!

Congrats again to you both!

Updates to come!

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 17th, 2008

I know there are a bunch of people waiting to see the first peek from their recent sessions - and they are coming! We’ve been ultra crazy the last bit with shoots and meetings as we get everything wrapped up before our trip. We’re heading to Cuba for 4 weeks in May, and we leave in just 2 weeks! So - keep checking back for all the recent shoots, and watch for our new website which we plan to launch before we head out.

Updates coming soon! Heading out now for another shoot today!

** Whoa… weird… we just this second got some new equipment in and our UPS guy used to be our bicycle mechanic. How weird is that?! He saw our bikes and was like hey! I recognize those! Haha - small world **

Jen & Neil’s Tofino Wedding

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 1st, 2008

This past weekend had us escaping the cold and unseasonal snow of Vancouver and heading to Tofino - which, by some miraculous hand, was gorgeous and sunny - for Jen & Neil’s wedding.

I hardly know where to start. Everything was perfect - from the amazing outfits (two hot numbers each), to the weather, to the grand fireworks finale at the end of the night. Looking back, I can’t think of a single thing that could have been any better.

There are so many images… but I have to choose just a few! Here are just a handful of all the great shots jumping out at me so far!

First up - the shoes. They most definitely deserve to make the blog cut. Jen agonized over her decision between a certain pair of Manolos and this pair of Louboutins. The Louboutins won.

The ceremony was held indoors, with a sweeping view of the beach right behind them.

My favourite reception detail - the cheese cake. Yes, it’s a cake. Or rather, cheese setup in the shape of a cake. Either way, it was delicious, and the symbolism behind them cutting the cheese entertains me to no end!

We headed back outside after dinner for a few sunset photos. Here is Jen, looking amazing in the evening sun.

One of the surprises of the night was the quick outfit change that had these two looking like they’d walked straight out of Hollywood. Wow.

And finally, the guests were treated again at the end of the night with an amazing beach fireworks show. The perfect end to the perfect day.

CONGRATS again, to both of you! It was such a joy to be there. I’m sure you are having a fantastic time in Morocco. We’ll see you when you get back!

Jen & Neil’s Tofino Trash the Dress Session

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on April 1st, 2008

The morning after the wedding, we headed back out to long beach for our trash the dress (and tux!) session. It was freezing, but the photos are gorgeous! The beach filled with spectators wondering who the crazy people in the cold Tofino water were.
