What a perfect day. The weather was amazing - especially for a November wedding. We were even able to do the family portraits outside! What a treat for this time of year.
3 stunning outfits… many friends and family… and a lot of love. That pretty much sums it up.
I started pulling out images to blog and it was getting out of hand so I pared it down… what you don’t see here are the touching moments where Daisy’s dad watches her finish getting ready from the back of the room, the tender ceremony, the tea ceremony bringing together two families and two cultures, the musical performance complete with song, guitar, and kazoos during the reception, and too many toasts and heartfelt hugs to count… and the list could go one and on. Daisy and Joel - it was such a pleasure to spend your day with you and to see just how loved you both are. Congratulations!

Cinnamon & Galib were married last weekend! We joined them for 2 of the many days of festivities, capturing both the ceremony and lunch reception on Saturday and the let-down-and-party soiree at the Fairmont Airport on Sunday.
With essentially 2 weddings worth of images, where do I even start?!
Shoes - of course, with the shoes!

And, of course, the dancing!

Cinnamon - that Grace Kelly look you were after? Couldn’t have pulled it off better. You were GORGEOUS!
Have a fantastic honeymoon, and congrats again! See you when you get back!!

On Saturday we headed to the Beach House at Dundarave Pier for the wedding of Heather and Justin.
The weather didn’t cooperate, but Heather chose to keep the ceremony exactly where she wanted it - on the beach. And how gorgeous it was! The matching umbrellas they’d bought for just such a day were perfect
The aisle walk

The Ceremony

Indoor portraits - I love both of these shots, I can’t decide which I like more!

And of course, a run outside in the rain

The rings - with just a few of the many wine glasses. Wine and great food were two of the biggest themes, with each of the food stations carefully paired with just the perfect wine.

The Cake - kudos to Paula at Aeyra Cakes for an amazing job on this one!

And of course, the reception. Oh, the reception! Between the guys serenading Heather during the garter removal to the group performance of the Grease soundtrack, there’s no lack of great dancing and reception shots. Here are just a few to give a taste of the night!

CONGRATS, Heather & Justin, have a FANTASTIC time on your honeymoon in Italy!
Also, a big shout out to Erin & Alicia from DreamGroup who were on hand to keep everything running smoothly
Cheers!

When we met with Renee & Rob last winter Renee told me that she wanted her wedding to be warm and elegant, and for her guests to have a great time. She certainly succeeded!
Saturday was gorgeous, and Hycroft (The University Women’s Club) was the perfect venue. It’s one of my favourite places to shoot, I love how the layout of the house allows for the guests to mingle and visit with eachother. Perfect!

Renee

Renee’s sister, Jessica, designed two of the most amazing cakes I’ve ever seen. She is based out of Montreal and she can be found online at www.jessicaberardcakes.com - definitely worth checking out if you’re anywhere close to her!
As part of her thank you gift to her sister and maid of honour, Renee bought Jessica a portrait session with us for when she was down! One of the images will be a headshot on her new site when it goes live. A sneak peak of those will be up tomorrow!
The Groom’s Cake
(and yes - that head is chocolate. I watched her mold it the morning of the wedding!)

And the Bride’s Cake - complete with 2 My Little Ponies from Renee’s collection! Have you ever seen anything like it?!

For the first dance Renee and Rob whisked away to come back in full costume for their salsa number. HOT!

And as yet another treat, Rob and his buddies performed a dance of their own. Afterwards, Rob put his teaching skills (Rob teaches martial arts, which is how he and Renee met) to work to teach the crowd a few dance moves

We had SO MUCH fun with you guys, and we really cannot wait to share the rest of the images! It was great to see you again today Renee and we’ll be in touch soon.
Cheers!

Earlier this week we headed onto the beach and into the ocean with Shawn & Eri for their After Session!
As Eri told the reporter who interviewed her for the Province last week, she wanted for her and Shawn to run into the ocean together - and so they did. And, of course, so did we. Who are we to get our clients to do anything that we wouldn’t do?
The pictures are stunning and speak for themselves. Are they typical wedding pictures? Of course not. But they are art, they’ll look fabulous on the wall, and they will have these guys talking for years to come. The dress was sandy and wet but very likely recoverable. And of course, we all had a blast!

And my fav shot of the set!

Love you guys! Thanks for playing with us in the ocean

On Saturday in the sun and heat we had the grand pleasure of photographing Dana & Jennie’s wedding!
With a gorgeous bride and hot groom, an amazing day with deep blue skies, and with all the family and friends in from Nova Scotia for a party, how could it not be a good time?!
Hitched!

Have a FABULOUS time in Tofino and Ucluelet!! While you’re there hit up Subtidal Adventures for their 4 hour whale, bear, and broken group island tour on the cruiser - we did it last week when we were there and had a blast, even in the rain!
Cheers!

It was dubbed “The Wedding of the Season” and it certainly lived up to the name! Delany Dunn, VP of Fan Experience for the Vancouver Canadians, married his long time sweetheart Lisa Marie after the last home game of the season yesterday. Fans, players, friends, and family alike were there to celebrate with them as they tied the knot at home base.
The media was out in full force, ensuring their wedding was not only documented by us, but by every TV station and newspaper in town it looks like as well! I know they made the papers today and the news last night for sure.
The horse and carriage were a surprise for Lisa Marie by Delany - and it worked. Here’s a shot of her reaction when she saw it for the first time -

Delany watching his bride walk down the aisle

Rev. Brent Sheppard (www.heyrev.com) was on hand to keep everyone in good spirits and to get these two married, and like always, he had everyone laughing and smiling. I LOVE working with him!

*sigh*

One of many overhead shots, this one an old school polaroid just for fun. Check out all the media! Crazy!

And my favourite set - Lisa Marie & Delany together. How cute is she?!

Congrats again, guys! What a wedding!

Wow.
You know, we go to a lot of weddings and we’ve seen countless different venues and types of celebrations. And sometimes, things really just click for us. This was one of those times.
We were married 7 years ago (as of last week! weu!) and I can absolutely say that if we were to do it all over again right now, this would be the exact way to do it.
Small, destination wedding. Not very far away though - Tofino/Ucleulet is so very close and yet feels like it’s worlds away. A big house to hold the wedding and reception as well as to provide accomodations for a sizeable group of friends and family. Beach and rocks and waves and trees. Amazing food served all night long. Mingling. Drinking. Gorgeous details and decor. And most importantly, an incredible group of family and friends to share it with.

Congratulations again to you both, from the bottom of our hearts. It was such an honour to be there to celebrate with you!
Kudos to Camilla at Crabapple Floral in Tofino who blows me away each time we do a wedding in Tofino or Ucleulet with her gorgeous work, and to our friends Albertine & Brina from Blue Skies and Daisies who did their magic with invites and website goodies here as well. It was great to see you both! Here’s one final shot of the Blue Skies clan!

What a perfect day for a perfect couple!
To start - a shot of the dress and ultra long veil

Just one highlight from the ceremony, although I could do an entire post of just that. Held at Ryerson United, Joey’s dad officiated a beautiful ceremony culminating in some heartfelt words delivered to each set of parents before they were officially announced. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!
Even before that though, Joey is a musician, and he surprised Rebecca by playing his guitar and singing to her as she walked down the aisle. Swoon!

Hot Hot Hot

The lengthy veil and the clouds at Iona Beach

The happy couple

And two amazing group shots! Rebecca & Joey had let us know they wanted to do some very epic group shots of their huge bridal party, so we made a plan and delivered these two shots. Either would be great up on the wall! I love the first one as an extended panoramic and the casual nature of the scene. The second, I adore the girls and how they are posed together. Stunning!

For our upcoming clients if you want to take some extra time to capture similar dramatic group shots, let us know. We have many ideas!
And, finally, a few shots of the many heartfelt toasts and speaches delivered at the reception at Fisherman’s Terrace!

Congrats Congrats!
