What types of photography can my Groupon be used for?
Our Groupon comes in many flavours! Our most popular sessions are our newborn and family photos, couples or engagement photos, saucy boudoir sessions, and headshots. Looking for something just a little different? Contact us here and we’ll let you know if we can do it. Please note, Groupons cannot be applied towards weddings, events, or commercial photography (outside of individual headshots)What is included with this Groupon?
Our Groupon is for a mini portrait session with Blue Olive Photography at a Vancouver location. Your session will include three retouched prints – an 8×12″ and two 5×7″ prints – from your favorite image. Your session also includes a custom ordering session where we’ll show you your images as well as help you make the best decisions on final prints and other products!
Can I combine Groupons?
We have to spread the Groupon love around! Sessions are one per person/family only. That said, if you would like a longer photo session – and we highly recommend more time! – you can add this on when you book your session at exclusive Groupon rates
When does this groupon expire?
You have 8 months to use your Groupon with us, so until January 28th 2011

What is your style?
Browse through our website and galleries and you’ll get a sense of what we do! Our website has all sorts of wedding and engagement images and our blog has a little of everything. Our style is definitely modern, edgy, fun, and yet timeless. We aim to capture what makes you *you*. We’ll capture you looking your smoking-hot best, we’ll capture the love and intimacy between a couple, we’ll capture the silliness of a family playing together on a sunny summer day, and we’ll capture the joy of a new arrival.
If you’re looking for a photographer to take you to a park and shoot boring group photos in front of a tree – we’re not the photographer for you. If, instead, you want images that make you laugh out loud, tear up, or burst with joy – we need to talk!
Who will be my photographer?
All sessions will be personally photographed by Reilly, Miranda, or one of the Olives (our affectionate term for our staff!), and individually retouched and edited by our in house team for signature Blue Olive prints
How long is my photosession?
Our Groupon mini sessions are approximately 30 minutes long at one location. But really, why stop there? We highly recommend increasing your session time at our exclusive Groupon rates for a more comprehensive session!
How many photos will I see?
Clients can expect 15-20 final images from our mini sessions, with more images for those who increase their session time
How many locations are included? Can we go to a second location during our session?
Sessions are at one location, however sessions can extend to two or more locations with a minimum 1.5 hour booking
Can I change outfits partway through?
Sessions are for one outfit only so we more than nail that look, but you can add additional outfits/looks by adding extra time to accommodate
Where will my photo session take place? What locations are available?
We are urban photographers and work in the urban landscape – have a look through our potfolio and you’ll see what we mean! You’ve never heard of half of the locations we love to shoot at, and even if I showed you where we want to go you’ll probably think we’re crazy. That is, of course, until you see the images we come up with.
So – for that reason, our distinct preference is to choose the location we’re going to shoot. In order to do that we need to know who we’re shooting and a little about you! Tell us a story, tell us what you do for fun, tell us what your thing is. And of course, if there’s somewhere you’re DYING to go we can make that happen, just let us know what you’re thinking and we’ll figure out a way to do it Blue Olive style. And of course, we are also able to travel anywhere within the lower mainland for a flat $50 travel fee.
If we decide during the shoot to add more time, can we?
Subject to the photographer’s availability, yes. Time added during a session is billed at a rate of $100/half hour, so it is definitely best to extend your session time in advance at the lower rate of $75/half hour!
What should I bring with me to the shoot?
We shoot on the go rather than stopping to setup each shot, so only carry what you’d like in the photos! It’s best to leave jackets and purses at home or in the car for this reason.
Do you photograph pets?
Yes we do! If you’d like to include your pet it’s a good idea to bring along a second person to act as a pet wrangler for images they are not included in
How many people can I include in my photo session?
Images will include all of the members of your group, to a maximum of 5 people (or pets!). So – for headshots this means you may have one person, couples would be two, and families would be up to 5. If you’d like to also include individual images of family members or smaller groups (ie: just the kids), we recommend increasing your session time to allow for more variety

How do I book?
That’s easy! Click Here to begin the booking process once you’ve read through this FAQ and have picked some time options from our schedule.
Once we finalize your shoot location and date we’ll send over tips and suggestions on clothing and making the most of your session along with our booking agreement. This is also when we’ll clear up the balance for any add-ons like extra session time.
What is your cancellation policy? What if I need to reschedule?
Life happens, we know. Get in touch in advance if you need to reschedule. Please note, cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled shoot time will result in your Groupon being forfeited. Similarly, due to the nature of the Groupon sessions we are unable to reschedule more than one time.
How far in advance do I need to book my session?
Our schedule lists dates around 4-6 weeks in advance. Our August schedules will be out July 1st, September schedules out on August 1st, and so on. Be sure to book your date early to get the spot you want!
What if it rains?
This is Vancouver, after all! We love to shoot with cloudy skies and a little bit of rain doesn’t stop us – we do not typically reschedule for weather. That said, if we determine the weather will not allow us to do our thing we will contact you to reschedule your session to a better day or to move your session to a more suitable location, at our discretion.
What if I am late for my appointment?
Please plan to arrive to our meeting point a few minutes early! If you are late your session time may be reduced to accommodate you. If you have not arrived or contacted us within 15 minutes of our scheduled start time we reserve the right to continue to our next session and your Groupon will be forfeited.

Do I have to purchase anything in addition to what is included?
You definitely don’t have to, but we really think you’ll want to once you see your images! Portrait images make for perfect gifts, excellent holiday cards (with custom designs by our in house graphic designer), and gorgeous home décor up on the wall
When will my images be ready? How do I order?
When we book your photo session we’ll also book your ordering appointment for approximately 2 weeks after your session. At this appointment we’ll share your images with you and go through them one by one to help you make the best decisions for your prints and other products. This is where you’ll make your order, so be sure to bring all decision makers along.
How do family and friends order?
Following your ordering session, any images that you have purchased will be available in an online gallery for 14 days for family and friends to place their orders directly with us

What are the prices of additional prints & other products?
Additional prints start at $25 with packages ranging from $395-1500+. We carry a full line of wall canvasses, custom designed greeting cards, prints, gift folios, and albums which we’ll be able to share with you in studio
When will my order be ready? How are they delivered?
Orders are typically ready to be picked up within 3-4 weeks of your ordering session, with the exception of albums and canvas prints which take additional time. We’ll notify you when your order is available for pickup or you have the option of having it shipped to you for an additional charge
Can I purchase my session files on disc?
The high resolution disc of your session images is available for purchase for $495 after your session
How may I use my images?
Blue Olive Photography retains ownership and copyright of all images, however clients will be granted the right to personal, non commercial use of the images and files that they purchase. Images may not be copied, sold, or published by the client without written agreement by Blue Olive. Headshot clients are granted commercial use of their headshot image for use in their own promotion only.
