Joel & Daisy

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on November 27th, 2007

What a perfect day. The weather was amazing - especially for a November wedding. We were even able to do the family portraits outside! What a treat for this time of year.

3 stunning outfits… many friends and family… and a lot of love. That pretty much sums it up.

I started pulling out images to blog and it was getting out of hand so I pared it down… what you don’t see here are the touching moments where Daisy’s dad watches her finish getting ready from the back of the room, the tender ceremony, the tea ceremony bringing together two families and two cultures, the musical performance complete with song, guitar, and kazoos during the reception, and too many toasts and heartfelt hugs to count… and the list could go one and on. Daisy and Joel - it was such a pleasure to spend your day with you and to see just how loved you both are. Congratulations!

Cinnamon & Galib

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on October 12th, 2007

Cinnamon & Galib were married last weekend! We joined them for 2 of the many days of festivities, capturing both the ceremony and lunch reception on Saturday and the let-down-and-party soiree at the Fairmont Airport on Sunday.

With essentially 2 weddings worth of images, where do I even start?!

Shoes - of course, with the shoes!

Cinnamon - that Grace Kelly look you were after? Couldn’t have pulled it off better. You were GORGEOUS!

Have a fantastic honeymoon, and congrats again! See you when you get back!!

Renee & Rob

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on September 17th, 2007

When we met with Renee & Rob last winter Renee told me that she wanted her wedding to be warm and elegant, and for her guests to have a great time. She certainly succeeded!

Saturday was gorgeous, and Hycroft (The University Women’s Club) was the perfect venue. It’s one of my favourite places to shoot, I love how the layout of the house allows for the guests to mingle and visit with eachother. Perfect!

Renee’s sister, Jessica, designed two of the most amazing cakes I’ve ever seen. She is based out of Montreal and she can be found online at www.jessicaberardcakes.com - definitely worth checking out if you’re anywhere close to her!

As part of her thank you gift to her sister and maid of honour, Renee bought Jessica a portrait session with us for when she was down! One of the images will be a headshot on her new site when it goes live. A sneak peak of those will be up tomorrow!

The Groom’s Cake
(and yes - that head is chocolate. I watched her mold it the morning of the wedding!)

And the Bride’s Cake - complete with 2 My Little Ponies from Renee’s collection! Have you ever seen anything like it?!

reneerob_blog09.jpg

For the first dance Renee and Rob whisked away to come back in full costume for their salsa number. HOT!

reneerob_blog10.jpg

And as yet another treat, Rob and his buddies performed a dance of their own. Afterwards, Rob put his teaching skills (Rob teaches martial arts, which is how he and Renee met) to work to teach the crowd a few dance moves

We had SO MUCH fun with you guys, and we really cannot wait to share the rest of the images! It was great to see you again today Renee and we’ll be in touch soon.

Cheers!

What a perfect day for a perfect couple!

To start - a shot of the dress and ultra long veil

rebeccajoey_blog01.jpg

Just one highlight from the ceremony, although I could do an entire post of just that. Held at Ryerson United, Joey’s dad officiated a beautiful ceremony culminating in some heartfelt words delivered to each set of parents before they were officially announced. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!

Even before that though, Joey is a musician, and he surprised Rebecca by playing his guitar and singing to her as she walked down the aisle. Swoon!

And two amazing group shots! Rebecca & Joey had let us know they wanted to do some very epic group shots of their huge bridal party, so we made a plan and delivered these two shots. Either would be great up on the wall! I love the first one as an extended panoramic and the casual nature of the scene. The second, I adore the girls and how they are posed together. Stunning!

For our upcoming clients if you want to take some extra time to capture similar dramatic group shots, let us know. We have many ideas!

And, finally, a few shots of the many heartfelt toasts and speaches delivered at the reception at Fisherman’s Terrace!

Congrats Congrats!

Michelle & Charles

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on July 23rd, 2007

On Friday night we headed over to the Media Club for some engagement photos of Michelle & Charles! They originally met the night of a show there, so it was only fitting that they headed back to where it all began.

The first shot features my brand new scooter! Isn’t she pretty? Michelle & Charles look pretty hot, too :)

We’re really looking forward to their wedding next month, on the very best day of the year - our anniversary! I love that we get to witness their vows on the same day that we’ll be remembering our own. A perfect way to spend our anniversary afternoon!

Cinnamon & Galib

When we planned their engagement session we decided on “rain or shine” - the day was the best for their schedule, and really, what’s a little rain for Vancouver?

So, naturally, we had rain - and LOTS of it. That said, we had two incredibly in love people and it wouldn’t have mattered what the weather was doing. As they live nearby, we spent time this evening with them wandering around Granville Island. We got some great stuff, and I think the rain only prompted us to work a little harder as we had an extra element to consider for each shot!

We’re looking forward to the wedding in October, guys, and we can’t wait to share the rest of the images!

Cheryl & Walt - The Wedding

Cheryl & Walt

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on December 27th, 2006

We first met with Cheryl & Walt just 2 weeks ago and in super fast tracked style we shot their engagement session on Christmas Eve and we’ll be documenting their wedding on January 6th. Sometimes when you know what you want you know what you want - after life and problems with a double booked venue put their originally planned September wedding on hiatus they weren’t sure when things would come together. Rather than waiting though, they decided to take advantage of the slow season allowing them to pull together the perfect wedding for them in the shortest possible timeframe!

From the details we’ve heard the wedding is going to be fantastic, and the Vancouver Club will be the perfect backdrop. We’ll look forward to sharing the images from our first wedding of 2007 with you as soon as they’re ready!

And now for something completely different…

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on December 22nd, 2006

Every time we pick up our cameras to photograph a wedding we are charged with capturing the memories of a couple and of a family that will be cherished and looked at for years to come. These are the images that will be carefully tucked away to be shown to children, to grandchildren. We aren’t just creating art for today - we are entrusted to document events which will be looked at by the families of our clients 50 or 100 years from now.

When I look through the images that have been proudly displayed and those that have been carefully tucked away and stored for so many years in my own family, I get a glimpse of the lives of my loved ones that I never had the ability to see. When people look at our photos years from now, I want them to see not only how everyone looked but to also get a feel for who they were then - whether they were wonderfully quiet and introspective with a wedding draped in elegance or if they were outgoing with a flair for being different, that’s what I want them to see.

If anyone was ever the quintessential big sister, it was me. No matter how old he gets, my little brother will always be my little brother. For those that know Roy, you know that unique hardly describes him, and the concept of marriage and wedding would stun and surprise almost anyone who has met him. For me, having gotten to know Tara when they were inseparable in junior high and high school years ago, it caused a chuckle but no real surprise when they not only had found each other again in this crazy world of ours but when they told us that they had eloped, knowing they didn’t ever want to lose each other again.

Of course, to elope means no wedding and celebration for the family, so in just 3 short weeks a party was thrown together so we could all get together and raise a glass to Roy & Tara. As the big sister who demands only the best, I was the remote wedding coordinator and day of decorator, I was the queen of seeking out the most perfect desserts, I was the MC, and I was the photographer, too, along with Reilly (so, although we got married 6 years ago, I have recent experience in what all all of you planning weddings are going through!). The focus was the party and that’s what we put on, and it was wonderful.

And, for once, instead of documenting the memories for everyone else, we got to turn the cameras on our own family and record our own.

Agnes & Frankie

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on December 22nd, 2006

We had the pleasure of finally meeting Agnes & Frankie a few weeks ago when they travelled to Vancouver from their home in Calgary - they booked us for their wedding earlier this year but this was the first opportunity they had to come down to Vancouver to visit and plan some more wedding details since. They’ll be getting married here next August and after their engagement shoot, we really can’t wait!

Besides, if this is what they wore for the engagement session, I can’t wait to see what the actual wedding attire looks like!
