Marten & Michelle

What a way to end the year!

Marten & Michelle’s Hotel Vancouver New Year’s Eve wedding was the perfect end to a fantastic year. Way to pull it off!

These two are jetsetting their way off to their new home in Dubai, so it was in many ways as much of a wedding as it was a going away party. Clearly, they won’t be forgotten!

We are always honoured when fellow photographers hire us to photograph them, and this was no exception. We were sure to capture the evidence that Marten really can’t let go of the camera though - we’ve got shots of him shooting Michelle as well as his camera in a prime, head table position ;)

One of my favourite parts about winter is that it’s dark by 4:30, meaning lots of great night shots! Here are 3 from our quick session under the bridge. As they are moving away, we wanted to get photos of the Vancouver skyline.

Rob & Anna

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on January 5th, 2008

Who needs time to plan a wedding when you can just whip something together in just a few months?

Guys - you pulled it off seamlessly!

I ADORED the personal touches with the handmade felt boutonnieres and the 1000 paper cranes which extended to the ring bearer “pillow” and the flower girl baskets. Everything was just so uniquely you.

Here are a few of my favourite highlights!

Yan & Darian

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on January 5th, 2008

Yan & Darian had probably the most unique wedding date of the year - Christmas Eve!

They gathered with their friends and family at the Fairmont Waterfront for an evening of elegance and warmth among those close to them. Everything was gorgeous and Yan looked amazing

These two are off on a bit of a European tour for their honeymoon, but the plan is to get together for even more images in their after session - so keep your eyes opened for more of this pair!

Rob & Anna

We headed out in the sun and frost yesterday to capture these images of Rob & Anna. They are getting married later this month - after starting planning in September! While it’s crazy hectic on the wedding planning front we know they’ll pull off one heck of a fun wedding. They are a riot!

We got some crazy good images - here are my favs!

Loving the reflected light - Reilly found the light, but I take all the credit for this one

Christina & Mounir

This was one of my most anticipated weddings, and it truly did not dissapoint. Between the dress, the amazing vintage hat, and the venues chosen for their character and age, this wedding was all about class!

Cheryl & Walt - The Wedding

Cheryl & Walt had the most wonderful winter wedding nestled in the walls of the Vancouver Club this past Saturday.

Congratulations again, guys! The wedding was absolutely beautiful, and it was such an honour to be there to document it for you!

Cheryl & Walt

We first met with Cheryl & Walt just 2 weeks ago and in super fast tracked style we shot their engagement session on Christmas Eve and we’ll be documenting their wedding on January 6th. Sometimes when you know what you want you know what you want - after life and problems with a double booked venue put their originally planned September wedding on hiatus they weren’t sure when things would come together. Rather than waiting though, they decided to take advantage of the slow season allowing them to pull together the perfect wedding for them in the shortest possible timeframe!

From the details we’ve heard the wedding is going to be fantastic, and the Vancouver Club will be the perfect backdrop. We’ll look forward to sharing the images from our first wedding of 2007 with you as soon as they’re ready!

And now for something completely different…

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on December 22nd, 2006

Every time we pick up our cameras to photograph a wedding we are charged with capturing the memories of a couple and of a family that will be cherished and looked at for years to come. These are the images that will be carefully tucked away to be shown to children, to grandchildren. We aren’t just creating art for today - we are entrusted to document events which will be looked at by the families of our clients 50 or 100 years from now.

When I look through the images that have been proudly displayed and those that have been carefully tucked away and stored for so many years in my own family, I get a glimpse of the lives of my loved ones that I never had the ability to see. When people look at our photos years from now, I want them to see not only how everyone looked but to also get a feel for who they were then - whether they were wonderfully quiet and introspective with a wedding draped in elegance or if they were outgoing with a flair for being different, that’s what I want them to see.

If anyone was ever the quintessential big sister, it was me. No matter how old he gets, my little brother will always be my little brother. For those that know Roy, you know that unique hardly describes him, and the concept of marriage and wedding would stun and surprise almost anyone who has met him. For me, having gotten to know Tara when they were inseparable in junior high and high school years ago, it caused a chuckle but no real surprise when they not only had found each other again in this crazy world of ours but when they told us that they had eloped, knowing they didn’t ever want to lose each other again.

Of course, to elope means no wedding and celebration for the family, so in just 3 short weeks a party was thrown together so we could all get together and raise a glass to Roy & Tara. As the big sister who demands only the best, I was the remote wedding coordinator and day of decorator, I was the queen of seeking out the most perfect desserts, I was the MC, and I was the photographer, too, along with Reilly (so, although we got married 6 years ago, I have recent experience in what all all of you planning weddings are going through!). The focus was the party and that’s what we put on, and it was wonderful.

And, for once, instead of documenting the memories for everyone else, we got to turn the cameras on our own family and record our own.

Amanda & Troy

Amanda & Troy had a wonderful winter wedding. And, despite the season, we were graced with an evening that still allowed us to take a few photos outdoors.

Brian & Barb

Posted by Miranda - Vancouver Wedding Photographer on November 28th, 2006

Brian and Barb were married on a beautiful fall day in November in Maple Ridge.
Their wedding was one of those perfect all-about-the-celebration affairs - casual and laid back and filled with great family and friends. It was great to be there to capture it!
