Carla & Jamie are so laid back and easy to get along with, and when they described their wedding venue it fit them to a T.

In the middle of nowhere… room for everyone to stay for the weekend… fit for a party under the gorgeous summer skies. Perfect.

Alpine Meadows Resort is a new property, and it sits roughly between Barriere and Clearwater, an hour or so north of Kamloops. Well, that is of course if the ferry is open – when I say that this place is tucked away, I mean it! The quickest route takes you on a fit-for-3 (at most!)  ferry ride across a river, and as it’s only got one operator it’s closed for lunch and he heads home around 6pm, necessitating a longer drive around. The fun is all in the trip however, so here’s a peak at our ferry adventure on the way -

Looking forward – like many of the guests – to a weekend away, we loaded up the truck with all of our gear, picked up Shari, and headed on our way. Once we arrived we were stunned with this property – brand new, complete with an on site restaurant and super nice cottages with large balconies for lazy evenings watching the sun set and catching a glimpse at the stars (which you forget are even there when you spend so much time in the city!)

The wedding itself was exactly what they wanted – laid back, a celebration, set in a beatiful location.

No one could have asked for anything more! Cheers, guys!

I was in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago for the annual WPPI photography convention with 15 000  or so of my favorite photographer friends!

Since moving into our new studio just before Christmas we’ve been stuck trying to figure out just what should go up on the walls, but I found a few amazing new products that will be debuting in our studio over the next couple of months thanks to the convention. If you think you’re in love with what we have now, you just wait ;)

Tracey, Jeanie, Ian and I also rented a car to get off of the strip with our cameras. Tracey hadn’t been to Vegas before so we did what any good photographers do – we headed to the Welcome to Vegas sign.

As we pulled up the CUTEST couple in wedding dress and suit were there. Hot pink accents, feathers in the hair, all cute and just married – being photographed by the limo driver.

No, no no, noooooooooooo. That just wouldn’t do.

I don’t even know if we were parked yet when I jumped out of the car and got over there to introduce myself. Clearly, this couple needed some photographer love, and Tracey, Jeanie, and I were excited to jump in.

We ended up shooting a quick session at the sign as they were in the middle of their private city tour, otherwise we probably would have pulled them into our car and driven around with them for a while, too ;) They had just gotten married at a little chapel by the sounds of it, and had had the teary phone call home with the news! As fate would have it they were also fellow Canadians who’d eloped from their home in Ontario.

CONGRATS CONGRATS Ericka & Justin! Thanks for letting us take over a little bit of your wedding day, and for not running away when I insisted that you really, really wanted us to shoot you ;)

Cheers!

You didn’t think I’d miss my *very last day* in the one month blogging marathon, did you? I came close a couple of times, but today was not to be missed!

Today I wanted to share a wedding we photographed in one of my most very favorite places on earth – Tofino! Alanna & Ben chose Tofino for the wedding day before coming back to Vancouver for a reception the following week. You’ll have to wait for reception photos in the coming days – there are Olympics to take in, after all! – but I couldn’t wait to share their wedding day.

Theirs was the definition of tiny – immediate family and a few very good friends only – but they made up for that with multiple days to enjoy the west coast. They rented a couple large houses and no sooner had the photo session ended all the ladies were changed into flannel pj’s! Now *that’s* how to truly relax.

I started pulling in some of my fav images and realized I might as well keep going, so here are both some of my fav images as well as their wedding highlights video with even more captures from the day. In true Tofino fashion, it was unseasonably sunny all morning (a treat in November!), absolutely POURED rain during the ceremony (to much laughter!), and went right back to being sunny for us to capture a few beach shots.

SO – here you go! My favorite location, and the last in our month long marathon. We still have lots to share including their reception, but it will probably take me a couple of days to recover ;)

Hatley Castle at Royal Roads University outside of Victoria has got to be one of my favorite places to shoot – so beautiful! It’s like travelling to another country. I love it there.

This was another wedding shot by Reilly & Tamara and am so madly in love with the images I don’t even know where to start. I’m pretty sure I say that all the time, but it’s true! The location is gorgeous and the light was surreal. I want to put them all on the wall.

And, as a neat twist, this was indirectly a referral from a wedding we shot in Edmonton in 2006. I love how it’s such a small world :)
