Sandra & Tyler’s UBC Boathouse Wedding

Not that I didn’t know it before, but when Reilly and I ran into Sandra at what could best be described as a Celtic punk show a few months before the wedding, it was clear we were going to have a blast with these two!

My heart leaps at the word theme – anytime anyone pulls together something a little different, you know it’s going to be a good time. And, for this UBC Boathouse wedding, the theme was Carnival – and pulled off perfectly. Goldfish topped each table, there was a (semi-successful) balloon drop during the first dance, and the balloons and theme-specific candy table rounded out the room.

The scene was set for everyone to have a great time – and that they did. It’s easy to capture images of everyone laughing and enjoying themselves when the night is as fun as theirs was!

We haven’t seen everything from these two as we’ve got a second shoot planned for a day that’s *not* pouring rain, so we’re looking forward to getting to more portrait time in a few weeks. For now, enjoy just a few of our favourites!

Christine & Tim’s Cleveland Dam Park Wedding

After photographing these guys a couple of times leading up to the wedding day, I have to say it was one we were definitely looking forward to. And how could we not?! Great, laid back, fun people with plans for a ceremony overlooking the lake and mountains at Cleveland Dam (a breathtaking place) followed by a warm reception filled with unique, personal details. Perfection.

It is, however, Vancouver – and for this particular summer day that meant more rain than usual. Christine & Tim had to make the call on whether they wanted to move the ceremony indoors to the hotel, and they chose just what I was hoping they would: to heck with keeping dry, the ceremony would go off as planned!

I think there’s something so magical about grey skies and rain days… colours pop, people cuddle under umbrellas, and in many ways I think this wedding will be so much more memorable than if it had been a sunny day. Love it.

The Delta Hotel in Burnaby was the reception venue of choice and the ballroom was impressive. On the vendor side, this day wouldn’t have been possible without Shari on our team, the always fantastic Bruce at Cloud Nine Creative for video, Hot Wax keeping the music going, and Jack and Jill Weddings for decor to name just a few of the people behind the scenes.

Oh – and the best part – did I mention the bubble tea?! Seriously, a cocktail hour complete with passed bubble tea really should be the new standard.

Chat soon guys! Can’t wait for your album, looking forward to seeing everything in print!

Daphne & John’s Cecil Green Park House Wedding

I always give a lot of credit to couples who are able to pull together all the wedding details remotely – in this case, Daphne & John travelled to Vancouver from their home in Virginia for their wedding.

Cecil Green was the reception venue of choice, and between the venue and their great team of wedding vendors, it’s no surprise that they were able to pull everything off without a hitch! They were treated to a truly gorgeous day with so many loving family and friends who joined them to celebrate. As we are designing the album now I can’t help but smile and laugh right along with everyone – cheers to you guys!

Lots of vendor shout outs here – Tamara joined Reilly for the Blue Olive Team, The Finer Details was responsible for coordination, A Unique Boutique did the flowers and rentals, Hot Wax took care of the music, and True Confections made the delicious cake.
