We were very excited to work at Cecil Green Park House at UBC, and the occasion did not disappoint. The day was what we like to call Wedding Perfect – cloudy enough that it’s easy on the eyes and for dynamic skies in photos, but nice enough that everyone is comfortable outside. Just right.

In a couple words, I would describe their wedding as simply elegant. From the decor and flowers to the hint of colour and of course Rachel herself, everything flowed together easily. Simply perfect.

In our typical less words – more pictures style, on with the photos!

Congrats to you both! You make a gorgeous couple, and had a truly beautiful wedding. Chat soon!!

And, of course, to give heaps of credit where credit is due the team came together with another gorgeous wedding cake by Paula from Aeyra Cakes, coordination and planning by Alicia from Dreamgroup Productions, floral and decor by Halfyard Designs, invites by the fabulous ladies over at Blue Skies and Daisies, and Jeanie put on the Blue Olive hat to second shoot. Amazing work all of you!

Originally from Vancouver, Brooke and Russ have been living in New Zealand for the past few years. We’ve been chatting with them for almost a year and a half as they planned their wedding from afar, and were super excited to finally meet when they flew to Vancouver in the days before the wedding!

I think one of the coolest things for them was that it really wasn’t just a wedding, but also a reunion – living on opposite ends of the globe it becomes a rare treat to spend time with closest friends and family.  They had a close knit group of people there to celebrate with them, and no one wasted any time in starting the party. What a blast!

Detail, details. Kudos to Paula at Aeyra Cakes for yet another gorgeous cake as well as the folks at ko-’ket design and Eleni Floral for their share of these details

CONGRATS again to you both! Hope you are well back in New Zealand, and that your Tahiti honeymoon was fabulous.

Thanks as well goes out to Jeanie for doing a stellar job second shooting!

Cheers!

On Saturday we headed to the Beach House at Dundarave Pier for the wedding of Heather and Justin.

The weather didn’t cooperate, but Heather chose to keep the ceremony exactly where she wanted it – on the beach. And how gorgeous it was! The matching umbrellas they’d bought for just such a day were perfect

Indoor portraits – I love both of these shots, I can’t decide which I like more!

The rings – with just a few of the many wine glasses. Wine and great food were two of the biggest themes, with each of the food stations carefully paired with just the perfect wine.

The Cake – kudos to Paula at Aeyra Cakes for an amazing job on this one!

And of course, the reception. Oh, the reception! Between the guys serenading Heather during the garter removal to the group performance of the Grease soundtrack, there’s no lack of great dancing and reception shots. Here are just a few to give a taste of the night!

CONGRATS, Heather & Justin, have a FANTASTIC time on your honeymoon in Italy!

Also, a big shout out to Erin & Alicia from DreamGroup who were on hand to keep everything running smoothly

Cheers!

When we met with Renee & Rob last winter Renee told me that she wanted her wedding to be warm and elegant, and for her guests to have a great time. She certainly succeeded!

Saturday was gorgeous, and Hycroft (The University Women’s Club) was the perfect venue. It’s one of my favourite places to shoot, I love how the layout of the house allows for the guests to mingle and visit with eachother. Perfect!

Renee’s sister, Jessica, designed two of the most amazing cakes I’ve ever seen. She is based out of Montreal and she can be found online at www.jessicaberardcakes.com – definitely worth checking out if you’re anywhere close to her!

As part of her thank you gift to her sister and maid of honour, Renee bought Jessica a portrait session with us for when she was down! One of the images will be a headshot on her new site when it goes live. A sneak peak of those will be up tomorrow!

The Groom’s Cake
(and yes – that head is chocolate. I watched her mold it the morning of the wedding!)

And the Bride’s Cake – complete with 2 My Little Ponies from Renee’s collection! Have you ever seen anything like it?!

reneerob_blog09.jpg

For the first dance Renee and Rob whisked away to come back in full costume for their salsa number. HOT!

reneerob_blog10.jpg

And as yet another treat, Rob and his buddies performed a dance of their own. Afterwards, Rob put his teaching skills (Rob teaches martial arts, which is how he and Renee met) to work to teach the crowd a few dance moves

We had SO MUCH fun with you guys, and we really cannot wait to share the rest of the images! It was great to see you again today Renee and we’ll be in touch soon.

Cheers!
