When couples choose to do both the ceremony and reception at the same venue I always like to stay close for photos so they can get back to their waiting guests as soon as possible. With the new landscaping and updates around the UBC Boathouse it made for a great place to walk around before heading back for the party!

The rain let up as if on queue to allow us outside for some beautiful portraits. I really adore these two and their images, so much so that I’m cheating on my own rule of 5 and am sharing 6 photos instead. Enjoy!

Love love love.

Happy February, everyone! With the flowers starting to come out (the cherry blossoms can be found if you look for them!) we’re starting to dream ahead to summer weddings, and what better way than by sharing some of what this past summer had in store that we have hiding in the archives waiting to share.

Marta & Ryan lived by the idea of handmade… everything from the absolutely gorgeous graphic design done by Marta which was everywhere from the invites to the labels on the wine… decor by friends… homemade lemon vodka by an aunt… .even the cake was made by the Groom’s Mom. Every detail was perfect, and made that much more wonderful by how much care and attention went into everything.

The UBC Boathouse served as the backdrop for the reception following the ceremony at Holy Rosary Cathedral. Louis Gervais provided the amazing food, Bisou Bridal takes credit for the dress, and Shari rounded out the Blue Olive team!

Enjoy!

It’s so rare that we get those fluffy prairie-like clouds here in Vancouver, but it’s such a treat when we do! And truly, no one deserved such a gorgeous day more than these two.

We first met with them last summer when the plans were just taking shape, and even hopped over to the island for a Victoria engagement session.

We see a lot of design and decor, but I loved.loved.loved. what Nicole dreamt up (with a little execution help by Party Art Design, of course). The perfect example of keeping thing simple in the most beautiful way – that cake table was probably the best one I’ve ever seen, the photos just can’t do it justice!

The girls were stunning all in Vera Wang, DreamGroup did their thing to keep everything running smoothly, Brent Sheppard officiated with humour and grace as he always does, and Shari (a fairly permanent fixture these days on our team!) joined us and rocked it Blue Olive style.

The Boathouse never looked so good!

And for part two of Alanna & Ben’s wedding – the UBC Boathouse Reception!

There’s always so much I could focus on when I pick photos to blog – in this case, the awesome flowers (by Flower Factory) and decor (love the pink accents and colour everywhere!), the memphis style BBQ cooked on-site and served up with bibs and wet wipes for fingers courtesy of Memphis Mike, or our friends at Photobooth Vancouver (for the photobooth, of course!) and Lotus Events for awesome coordination to bring it all together. I could talk about how Shari joined us on the Blue Olive side, and I could even get into the fact that we are SUPER ECSTATIC that she’s an official Olive for the upcoming season so you’ll all be seeing a lot of her stuff. While I COULD talk about any of those things, I always go back to the same thing – we’re there for the people. And the moments. And the smiles, and the laughter, and the tears, so the rest of it is secondary.

So – with that – I bring you just a few of the happy, celebrating people that made up this reception. Regardless of how amazing the room looks and how much goes into the flowers and favors and chair covers and whatever… while we capture all of that too, we’re there to freeze the laughter and joy of happy celebration for years to come, so that’s what I’m sharing today. Cheers to you all!
