Deal Specifics

What types of photography can my Groupon be used for?
Our Groupon is intended for newborn and baby photos, kids, and families. Looking for something just a little different? Contact us and we’ll let you know if we can do it. Please note, Groupons cannot be applied towards weddings, parties, events, or commercial photography.

What is included with this Groupon?
Our Groupon is for a 45 minute mini portrait session with Blue Olive Photography at a Vancouver (or North Vancouver) location, with up to 5 people. Your session will include one retouched 8×12″ print from your favourite image. Your session also includes a custom ordering session where we’ll meet in our studio to show you your images as well as help you make the best decisions on final prints and other products!

When does this groupon expire?
This Groupon expires six months after your purchase date.

The Photoshoot

What is your style?
Browse through our baby and family website at  and you’ll get a sense of what we do! Our style is definitely modern, edgy, fun, and yet timeless. We aim to capture what makes you *you*. We’ll capture the silliness of a family playing together on a sunny summer day, kids being kids, and the joy of a new arrival.

If you’re looking for a photographer to take you to a park and shoot boring group photos in front of a tree – we’re not the photographer for you. If, instead, you want images that make you laugh out loud, tear up, or burst with joy – we need to talk!

Who will be my photographer?
All sessions will be personally photographed by Reilly or Miranda, and individually retouched and edited by our in house team for signature Blue Olive prints

How many photos will I see?
Clients can expect to see around 25-40 final images from our sessions

Where will my photo session take place? What locations are available?
We are urban photographers and work in the urban landscape. So – for that reason, our distinct preference is to choose the location we’re going to shoot. In order to do that we need to know who we’re shooting and a little about you! Tell us a story, tell us what you do for fun, tell us what your thing is. And of course, if there’s somewhere you’re DYING to go we can make that happen, just let us know what you’re thinking and we’ll figure out a way to do it Blue Olive style. We are also able to travel anywhere within the lower mainland for a flat $50 travel fee.

We do not arrange indoor locations for our shoots and do not shoot portraits in studio. If, however, you have access to a great indoor space or would like to arrange to shoot somewhere inside, please get in touch so we can discuss specifics. Empty sections of modern restaurants, quirky industrial spaces, the family farm, your favourite bowling alley or movie theatre… all great indoor spots if you would like to do the leg work and get permission and access from the property owner!

Please note: newborns are almost exclusively photographed in your home, where mom and baby are happiest and everything you need is close at hand! Your house is also likely a great photo option especially with little kids, where we can alternate between jumping on the bed and blowing bubbles in the backyard:)

What should I bring with me to the shoot?
We shoot on the go rather than stopping to setup each shot, so only carry what you’d like in the photos! It’s best to leave jackets and purses at home or in the car for this reason.

How many people can I include in my photo session?
Images will include all of the members of your immediate family, to a maximum of 5 people (or pets!).

Booking Policies & Process

How do I book?
That’s easy! Visit our booking page above to begin the booking process once you’ve read through this FAQ and have picked some time options from our schedule.

Once we finalize your shoot location and date we’ll send over tips and suggestions on clothing and making the most of your session along with our booking agreement.

What is your cancellation policy? What if I need to reschedule?

Life happens, we know. Get in touch in advance if you need to reschedule and we’ll figure out our options. Please note, cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled shoot time may be subject to a $49 rebooking fee.

How far in advance do I need to book my session?
Our schedule lists dates around 4-6 weeks in advance. Our May schedules will be out mid-March, June schedules out mid-April, and so on. Be sure to book your date early to get the spot you want!

What if it rains?
This is Vancouver, after all! We love to shoot with cloudy skies and a little bit of rain doesn’t stop us – we do not typically reschedule for weather. That said, if we determine the weather will not allow us to do our thing we will contact you to reschedule your session to a better day or to move your session to a more suitable location, at our discretion (we typically make the call on questionable weather the morning of the shoot).

What if I am late for my appointment?
Please plan to arrive to our meeting point a few minutes early! If you are late your session time may be reduced to accommodate you. If you have not arrived or contacted us within 15 minutes of our scheduled start time we reserve the right to continue to our next session.

Products & Ordering

Do I have to purchase anything in addition to what is included?
You definitely don’t have to, but we really think you’ll want to once you see your images! Portrait images make for perfect gifts, excellent holiday cards (with custom designs by our in house graphic designer), and gorgeous home décor up on the wall

When will my images be ready? How do I order?
You can book your image review appointment for as soon as 7 days after your session – it’s usually best to make this appointment at the same time as you book your shoot. At this appointment we’ll share your images with you and go through them one by one to help you make the best decisions for your prints and other products. This is where you’ll make your order, so be sure to bring all decision makers along.

What are the prices of additional prints & other products?
Additional prints start at $35 with packages ranging from $395-1500+. We carry a full line of wall canvasses, custom designed greeting cards, prints, gift folios, and albums which we’ll be able to share with you in studio

When will my order be ready? How are they delivered?
Orders are typically ready to be picked up within 3-4 weeks of your ordering session, with the exception of albums and canvas prints which take additional time. We’ll notify you when your order is available for pickup or you have the option of having it shipped to you for an additional charge

Can I purchase my session files on disc?
The high resolution disc of your session images is available for purchase for $695 after your session

How may I use my images?
Blue Olive Photography retains ownership and copyright of all images, however clients will be granted the right to personal, non commercial use of the images and files that they purchase. Images may not be copied, sold, or published by the client without written agreement by Blue Olive.

What forms of payment do you accept?
