Vancouver Family Portraits

Families with little kids are one of the groups we photograph most. I love seeing our families through often starting with their engagement shoot before the wedding through to the first and then second (or more!) kids.

It’s so much fun watching these families grow and the kids get bigger! Capturing huge personalities in the kids and families we meet is oh so much fun. Here’s a look at some of our shoots from this year – with a whole lot more on our Facebook page!

Indie I Do – January 25th!

2014-IndieWeb

It’s my favourite event of the year! The 6th annual Indie I Do wedding show is happening this weekend!

Indie is a joint production between ourselves and our friends over at Lotus Events, and it’s the sassiest boutique show around. We feature lots of handmade and unique vendors you don’t see at other shows, and we’d really love for you to come check it out.

Advance tix are still available on the website (http://www.indieido.com/) at pre-sale rates, with tickets also available at the door.  We’ve got a few passes available for Blue Olive clients as well, so if that’s you, drop a note!

Hope to see you there!

Happy New Year!

Hip hip hooray! Happy 2014!

I love this time of year because of all the time spent with family and friends, marking the end of our crazy busy fall season and giving us a chance to look ahead to what’s next for the new year.

We celebrate Ukrainian Christmas Eve on the 6th and will be back in the office for the 7th, until then I’m loving hearing about the new holiday engagements hitting my inbox and looking forward to meeting with all of you newly engaged brides & grooms over the coming days and weeks.

Next up: 2013 roundup including some of our favourite images, along with a few pieces published and award winners, too!

Allison & Brad’s Art Deco Vancouver Club Wedding

Miranda Wedding Photography Leave a Comment

Loved this Art Deco themed wedding at the Vancouver Club earlier this year!

These two had a super classy affair combined with some wicked fun portraits on our walk around the city nearby. Shouts out to Corinne at Filosophi for pulling everything together, along with Harmony Cakes, Upright Decor and Young Hip & Married to name a few of the vendors who were involved in this gorgeous wedding!

Allison & Brad – congrats again! I hope you’ve had an amazing summer for your first of many summers together as husband and wife! xo!

Vancouver Newborn Babies!

Miranda Families & Baby Photography, Portraits Leave a Comment

Summer and fall are always our busiest portrait times, and we’ve been hiding away enjoying getting to know so many Vancouver families!

I wanted to post a few of our recent Blue Olive newborns. You can check out our Facebook page as well for more of our recent newborn shoots!

I love capturing brand new babies – every so tiny & sleepy in the first days at home, and capturing brand new families is a perk of what we do that can’t be beat. Say hello to a few of our recent babes!

Jenny & Ed’s Hotel Vancouver Wedding

Sophisticated & elegant with the beauty of tradition in their Korean ceremony – that’s how you’d wrap up Jenny & Ed’s wedding in one line.

So many of our weddings have guests from far and wide, and this was no exception with many guests flying in from allover the world to celebrate. I cry at every wedding, and at this one I remember that it was Ed’s speech that brought me to tears (hidden ones, behind my lens!).

The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver was the location of the reception for 200, with Holy Rosary Cathedral holding the ceremony earlier in the day. Flowerz & Ganache Patisserie are to thank for the flowers, the cake & the favours! Shari was along with Reilly and I for the Blue Olive team that day.

Here’s just a peak at what made up this day!

Make it a date night this weekend! Must-see movie at the Rio

Miranda Blue Olive Photography News Leave a Comment

Hey! Make this Friday (or Saturday) a date night and hit up the Rio for the Canadian premiere of the Sign Painter Movie! If you’re reading this blog you’re already into art & design in some way, and if you love typography and the handmade movement – even better.

Our very good friends over at Lotus Events are hosting the Canadian premiere of the documentary, the Sign Painter Movie, this weekend. And really, you should go. Faythe was last in town with her previous film Handmade Nation, and I’m so excited to see what she’s been working on since!

There was a time, as recently as the 1980s, when storefronts, banners, and even street signs were all hand-lettered with brush and paint. You can see some great examples locally on the windows of Rainier Provisions, Old Faithful Shop, and Harvest Community Foods to name a few.

Join directors Faythe Levine and Sam Macon at the Canadian premiere of the Sign Painter movie on Friday, June 7th and Saturday, June 8th, 2013 at the Rio Theatre located at 1660 East Broadway in Vancouver, BC. Doors are at 6:30pm, with a screening at 7:30pm, and followed by a Q+A. Tickets are $20 in advance via the website and $25 at the door.

See you there!
