Indie I Do – Vancouver’s Alternative Wedding Show!

bop Wedding Photography 1 Comment

We are just 10 days away from the second annual Indie I Do wedding show – do you have your tickets yet?!

Indie I Do is a joint production between our friends over at Lotus Events and ourselves – Blue Olive! We recognized that the monster wedding shows with the commercial, anonymous feel just didn’t do it for everyone. So – naturally – we made our own.

Indie is about everything independent, local, and edgy. Whether you’re having a completely off the wall affair or a fairly vanilla one but want to incorporate a few things that are unique – while keeping it local and independent – then we’re for you.

Visit the site at http://www.indieido.com to purchase tickets, see the full vendor list, and even check out photos and video from year one. Hope to see you at the show!

If you’ve never been to one of these events, you’re missing out! This show is the perfect place to find unique gifts and treats for yourself. Can anyone say bridesmaids gifts and holiday presents? From handcrafted jewellery to saucy silkscreened T’s, Got Craft is the place to find it.

I (Miranda) will even have a table with everything from button necklaces to typewriter key jewellery to old books turned funky clocks. Come say hello!

Cans for Comments! Comment on our blog and we’ll give a can to the food bank

bop Blue Olive Photography News 17 Comments

blogcans There’s nothing that we love more than hearing from all of the people who read our blog – whether for comments, questions, or compliments. So, for the second year in a row we’re doing Cans for Comments. This year we’re upping the ante and leaving this open for two full weeks! Last year we donated a huge pile of food as a result, and this year we want to do more.

Until December 7th we’ll donate one non-perishable food item to our local food bank for every person who comments on any current or previous post on our blog. Simple!

A huge shout out goes to our friends Chris & Lynn for coming up with and starting the drive!

*UPDATE* Thanks for everyone who commented! We have a huge pile of cans ready to go to our local foodbank. Cheers!

Zephyr’s Newborn Portrait Session

bop Families & Baby Photography 3 Comments

I know I know, we take all sorts of fancy pants portraits of people and babies and things and neglect to share. It might be rainy outside, but I have lots of unseen not so gloomy shoots hiding in the archives that I am working on getting onto the blog for you to see!

One of my favorite things is when our wedding clients come back with tiny new babies for us to photograph. Margo & Sherwin are two of my favorite moms and we were oh so excited to meet Zephyr when he arrived earlier this year. We saw him again just recently and seeing how BIG he is now just a few short months later reminded me that I should share a few of the photos from when he was tiny and new.

Take care guys! Thanks for bringing him to visit the other day!

Kim & Jon’s West Vancouver Wedding

bop Wedding Photography 3 Comments

Have I mentioned lately how much I love backyard weddings?

Now – first off, this was definitely no *regular* back yard. I’m pretty sure that when we first met and were talking about where the wedding would be these guys pulled out a garden magazine to show images of Kim’s family’s beautiful property. And that it was. With so many levels and nooks and crannies, there was just no better place!

Intimate, so many friends and family, delicious food stations tucked in while guests mingled and enjoyed the view… all simply perfect.

The night ended with a fireworks show put on by the guys on the dock down below, and all caught on camera by Reilly & Tamara.

Congrats again to you both!

Erin & Paul’s Royal Vancouver Yacht Club Wedding

bop Wedding Photography 8 Comments

The Royal Vancouver Yacht club at Jericho served as the stage for Erin & Paul’s summer wedding. Such a great venue with the view of the water, we were even granted a light show with lightening in addition to fireworks!

A pile of great vendors came together for this one – Erin Bishop from Dreamgroup (always a treat!), Manuel Mendoza for the bride’s gown and groom’s suit and JA Coutier for the bridesmaids. The cake was made by Paul’s dad and decorated by Erin’s mom which was a great touch. Flowers done by Granville Island Florist and Decor by Colin at Upright Decor. And of course, Soulstream for the band and all photographed by Reilly & Tamara for the Blue Olive troup.

Another referral from past clients, it was great to see you guys Keith & Julie!

Congrats again to you both Erin & Paul! Cheers!

Hafeeza & David’s Hatley Castle Wedding

bop Wedding Photography 3 Comments

Hatley Castle at Royal Roads University outside of Victoria has got to be one of my favorite places to shoot – so beautiful! It’s like travelling to another country. I love it there.

This was another wedding shot by Reilly & Tamara and am so madly in love with the images I don’t even know where to start. I’m pretty sure I say that all the time, but it’s true! The location is gorgeous and the light was surreal. I want to put them all on the wall.

And, as a neat twist, this was indirectly a referral from a wedding we shot in Edmonton in 2006. I love how it’s such a small world 🙂
