Birth Photography

Miranda Families & Baby Photography 2 Comments

My passion for photography comes from being given the opportunity to document some of the most important moments in the lives of my clients. I repeat over and over again to people who ask why I do it that I know what my parent’s wedding photos look like and I know what my grandparent’s do, too. I have glimpses of their childhoods through photos and I have record of mine. It’s powerful, powerful stuff.

While snapshots are important, I know that through my camera I can capture stunning artistic images that both capture the essence of the people I’m shooting and that will stand the test of time. Images that my clients proudly hang on their walls and display in their albums.

And, on that note, more often than not I am able to capture images and moments that otherwise would have never been captured.

A few weeks ago I posted the maternity pictures of Stacy who was due with her first baby last week. And, last Thursday, I had the honour of attending and documenting the home birth of her very beautiful baby girl.

These are images that would have never been captured if not for my presence. They are also images that will be cherished for the entire lives of this new family. They are true photojournalism at its finest, and I still cry everytime I see them.

With the blessing of the family I am sharing the slideshow for those of you who would like to see it. It’s been edited for modesty, but it’s still a birth and there are some very graphic frames so some may choose not to view it.

Dana & Glenis get Hitched

Dana and Glenis were married yesterday!

We had such a fabulous time with these two. Rather than be swayed by traditional venues and timelines, Dana & Glenis chose to have an afternoon reception at Wild Rice. With the whole place for themselves and the most amazing hors d’oeuvres and tasting dishes coming around one after the other, everyone had a fantastic time.

Afterwards they changed into their party clothes and headed over to the Republic where Dana DJs each week for drinks with friends.

To the Theatre!

Robyn & Chris were married last weekend and wanted something a little different for some of their images – they wanted them done in a theatre!

We were able to arrange it with the Abby Arts Centre in Abbotsford and so we headed out to get creative. There are so many more from the wedding that I look forward to sharing once we’re done processing them, but I wanted to get a few of the theatre ones up for you to see now.

Cheers!

Dana & Glenis will be getting married later this month and we recently spent some time in Gastown for their engagement session.

Not ones to be wooed by the traditional wedding venues, we’ll be heading out for dinner to Wild Rice before hitting Shine Night Club for some dancing!

Can’t wait to see what else they have planned – and to share some of the pictures here!

I just received an email from Lynn, one of our brides from April 2005 (you can see a shot from Lynn’s wedding in the Raves section of the website). I wanted to share it with you as it’s the kind of feedback I love to get!

Thanks for the note, Lynn!

Hey Miranda

I have been meaning to drop you a note for a couple of weeks to tell you a quick story.

A couple of weeks ago I had breakfast with a coworker. I decided to bring my wedding album since I’d never had the chance to show her.

She is looking through the album, and she starts crying, and her comment was that the pictures were just so beautiful! It made her feel like she was right there with us, and she also said we look totally in love in them!

That to me is even more validation of the great work you guys do!

Just thought I would let you know…

Lynn
