Emilee & Sat’s Riverside Palace Wedding

bop Wedding Photography 1 Comment

Emilee & Sat’s story starts with a simply beautiful engagement – Emilee was sitting down to put shoes on before going out with friends when their dog jumped in her lap (a regular occurrence). Unlike every other day, however, was that a ring was hanging around her neck! She looked up to see Sat walking down the hall towards her and the rest is history.

I absolutely love how gorgeous these two looked in Emilee’s gown and Sat’s traditional achkan – such a stunning pair! The wedding was complete with an amazing group of family and friends who had flown in from allover the world to celebrate with them, including Emilee’s 94 year old grandmother as an extra special addition.

The ceremony and reception were both held at Riverside Palace in Richmond, which also provided the food, DJ, and much of the decor for a stress free day for these two. Shari was along with the Blue Olive team to capture all the details of the day.

Samantha & Greg’s Vancouver Club Wedding

Samantha & Greg’s wedding was on a sweltering hot day last summer, accented with picture perfect details. The day took us from a ceremony at Van Dusen gardens through to the reception at The Vancouver Club, with a long photo session between to capture the gorgeous couple, of course!

Of particular note for vendors, Mara Gottler did a beautiful job on custom dresses for the bride and her bridesmaids. West Van Florist provided the flowers, Cupcakes had the sweets, Tracey joined our team, and Absolute Entertainment kept the party going for a few of the behind the scenes vendors.

Avery & Evan’s Stanley Park Pavilion Wedding

I loved how Avery described her wedding when we were first chatting – ethnic/bohemian/Indian/middle-eastern inspired. I didn’t quite know exactly what to expect until we arrived on the wedding day, but it was instantly clear when I saw the details and of course she’d pulled it off perfectly! I loved the sarees worn by the bridesmaids and the bright colours with the purple and orange palette especially – perfection.

Stanley Park Pavilion was the perfect venue with a gorgeous day setting the scene for the outdoor ceremony before the lively reception inside. Shari was with us for the Blue Olive team, with Katsura Designs behind the flowers, DJ Gary on the dance floor, Kaeko at Kreation Artisan Cake responsible for sweets among others.

Lindy & Trong’s Horby Island Wedding

So, you’ve already seen the video from this wedding, but it’s not quite the same as savouring each shot one by one. Also, I kinda love these guys and this way I get to share their stuff with you again!

I doubt I could go on any more about how much I love local destination weddings, but that’s not going to stop me. I LOVE when people can get away – even just for one night – to truly relax and celebrate. It’s an entirely different feel, and I love it. This was one of those weddings.

Sea Breeze Lodge was the venue chosen for both the ceremony and reception, with guests scattered in cozy B&Bs nearby and around the island. Of note, the gals got ready at Spray Point Beach House which also gets a giant mention here – not only was it a great retreat, but it provided the access to the amazing rock formations that we took full advantage of in our photoshoot. I would go back just for that!

Sandy Pandher did an expert job with coordination and decor, Bisou Bridal and Frocks were behind the bride’s and bridesmaid’s gowns respectively, Amanda’s Makeup there for hair & makeup, and Michael Schurko on video.

xoxo! Enjoy!

Rachel & Greg’s Granville Island Wedding

Some weddings are simply perfect… from the perfect blue skied day, to the perfect dress…. to the perfect evening for a reception overlooking the water. Simply, perfect.

Rachel & Greg chose Granville Island to tie the knot, opting for the ocean, mountains, and city as the backdrop to their marriage. Perfect blue sky and rare white fluffy clouds were confirmation it was exactly the right choice… the location was stunning! Bridges Restaurant hosted the reception with views of the water and city and a gorgeous sunset to cap off the night.

Rachel’s Manuel Mendoza dress was simply gorgeous, and with Marilyn Knipp performing the ceremony, Sweet Beginnings in charge of Decor, Mark from Absolute Entertainment along for the ride, Tracey on the Blue Olive team, and Evan – Flowerz – behind the florals it was a pretty fantastic team of vendors behind the scene to boot.

Love love!

Amber & Jeff’s God’s Mountain Estate Wedding

What’s summer without a trip to wine country?!

The perfect summer evening amid the grape vines and fruit trees of the Okanagan set the tone for Amber & Jeff’s Penticton Wedding at God’s Mountain Estate. I don’t think you can get further away while being so close to home… driving through the gates to the estate was like being transferred to another place. It couldn’t have been more perfect.

This wedding was all about a weekend away with close family and friends, and that’s exactly what it was. Amber & Jeff are super laid back and easy going, and the wedding reflected that. Simple, beautiful, relaxed.

On the vendor side, Upright Decor provided rentals from Vancouver, DJ Leanne made the treck along with I Do Luv Weddings for video and of course Shari joined us for a Blue Olive Road Trip. Jeweliette made an appearance in the bride’s accessories and Britton Diamonds takes credit for the rings. From Penticton, Swimming Dragon made the cake with Lisa Yang responsible for flowers and Joy Road Catering behind the food. Whew!

Marta & Ryan’s UBC Boathouse Wedding

Love love love.

Happy February, everyone! With the flowers starting to come out (the cherry blossoms can be found if you look for them!) we’re starting to dream ahead to summer weddings, and what better way than by sharing some of what this past summer had in store that we have hiding in the archives waiting to share.

Marta & Ryan lived by the idea of handmade… everything from the absolutely gorgeous graphic design done by Marta which was everywhere from the invites to the labels on the wine… decor by friends… homemade lemon vodka by an aunt… .even the cake was made by the Groom’s Mom. Every detail was perfect, and made that much more wonderful by how much care and attention went into everything.

The UBC Boathouse served as the backdrop for the reception following the ceremony at Holy Rosary Cathedral. Louis Gervais provided the amazing food, Bisou Bridal takes credit for the dress, and Shari rounded out the Blue Olive team!
