Alanna & Ben’s UBC Boathouse Wedding Reception

bop Wedding Photography 1 Comment

And for part two of Alanna & Ben’s wedding – the UBC Boathouse Reception!

There’s always so much I could focus on when I pick photos to blog – in this case, the awesome flowers (by Flower Factory) and decor (love the pink accents and colour everywhere!), the memphis style BBQ cooked on-site and served up with bibs and wet wipes for fingers courtesy of Memphis Mike, or our friends at Photobooth Vancouver (for the photobooth, of course!) and Lotus Events for awesome coordination to bring it all together. I could talk about how Shari joined us on the Blue Olive side, and I could even get into the fact that we are SUPER ECSTATIC that she’s an official Olive for the upcoming season so you’ll all be seeing a lot of her stuff. While I COULD talk about any of those things, I always go back to the same thing – we’re there for the people. And the moments. And the smiles, and the laughter, and the tears, so the rest of it is secondary.

So – with that – I bring you just a few of the happy, celebrating people that made up this reception. Regardless of how amazing the room looks and how much goes into the flowers and favors and chair covers and whatever… while we capture all of that too, we’re there to freeze the laughter and joy of happy celebration for years to come, so that’s what I’m sharing today. Cheers to you all!

On March 21 – 23 Image Quest is taking place here in town, bringing 3 full days of speakers, a trade show, and networking events!

They’ve got some great speakers lined up including Jasmine Star, Dane Sanders, Mitche Grafe… and us. We are extremely honoured to be asked to speak, and I’ve been filing away tips and tricks for months in order to share what we’ve got with you. I can’t promise we’ll be anywhere near polished like the veteran speakers on the roster, but we will come equipped with lots of knowlege and info to share with all the attendees in the room.

You can visit their website to get all the info on what is in store at http://ppoc.ca/ppabc/, and we’ll look forward to seeing you there!

Alanna & Ben’s Tofino Wedding

bop Wedding Photography 4 Comments

You didn’t think I’d miss my *very last day* in the one month blogging marathon, did you? I came close a couple of times, but today was not to be missed!

Today I wanted to share a wedding we photographed in one of my most very favorite places on earth – Tofino! Alanna & Ben chose Tofino for the wedding day before coming back to Vancouver for a reception the following week. You’ll have to wait for reception photos in the coming days – there are Olympics to take in, after all! – but I couldn’t wait to share their wedding day.

Theirs was the definition of tiny – immediate family and a few very good friends only – but they made up for that with multiple days to enjoy the west coast. They rented a couple large houses and no sooner had the photo session ended all the ladies were changed into flannel pj’s! Now *that’s* how to truly relax.

I started pulling in some of my fav images and realized I might as well keep going, so here are both some of my fav images as well as their wedding highlights video with even more captures from the day. In true Tofino fashion, it was unseasonably sunny all morning (a treat in November!), absolutely POURED rain during the ceremony (to much laughter!), and went right back to being sunny for us to capture a few beach shots.

SO – here you go! My favorite location, and the last in our month long marathon. We still have lots to share including their reception, but it will probably take me a couple of days to recover 😉

Monica & Gideon’s Quilchena Golf & Country Club Wedding

bop Wedding Photography 2 Comments

Monica and Gideon travelled from their current home in Hong Kong back to Vancouver (where Monica grew up) for their November wedding. Their wedding was a beautiful mix of family and tradition coupled with lots of time for Reilly and Shari to work their magic around town! Despite the pouring rain and cold temps, Monica, Gideon, and the bridesmaids and groomsmen along to support them had a blast checking out all of the urban rain-free spots we could find, in true Blue Olive style. Once again I’m left trying to figure out just which images to narrow it down to for the upcoming additions to our website and portfolios – I love having that problem!

Cheers, you guys!

Jahn & Yvette’s Scandinavian Centre Wedding

bop Wedding Photography Leave a Comment

I always love when couples incorporate parts of eachother’s heritage, and Jahn & Yvette’s wedding was no exception. Held at the Scandinavian centre, they had both traditional and western cakes and for their ceremony included pieces from Yvette’s Filipino heritage.

I couldn’t stop picking photos for this post, because everyone was just having such a fantastic time. Reilly & Shari captured dozens upon dozens of smiles for this one, and how could they not? Happy, smiling, celebrating people are contagious!

Now – we’re off to try to find somewhere in this city to watch the hockey game. Who knew *I* would ever care this much about hockey? Happy Friday everyone! Just 2 more days of daily blog posts to go – and I haven’t messed up yet 😉

Cheers

Indie I Do!

Version 2.0 of Indie I Do – the alternative wedding show we put on with our friends at Lotus Events – was a smashing success! The 2011 show is already in the works (January 22nd 2011 is the date! Mark your calendar).

The ever fabulous Tracey Heppner was our show photographer once again, and she captured these images of the Blue Olive booth. Cheers!

Christine & Peter’s Swan-e-set Bay Wedding

bop Wedding Photography 1 Comment

I love the warmth and colour of fall weddings – and there was plenty of both at Christine & Peter’s Swan-e-set Bay wedding late October! Reilly & Shari documented every moment – and so perfect that the rain let up just enough to head outside for a few portraits.

The details were so fitting – I really liked how they used images from their engagement session as part of their table numbers, and the custom characters on the cake were the ultimate personalization touch.

Cheers, guys!
