Summer Engagement Sessions

Miranda Engagement Photography, Portraits Leave a Comment

It seems like it’s finally summer here in Vancouver, and we’ve been spending most of our time out shooting while the weather is so nice! So many engagements and couples and new babies and families… I wanted to touch base before another weekend of weddings & portrait sessions to give a tiny glimpse of what we’ve been up to!

I love how every engagement session we do has such a unique flavour specific to the couple we’re photographing… and I thought this peak into a few recent sessions shows that! From vintage bicycles in the streets of East Van to rockabilly style, the cool blue of the Vancouver skyline, and a gorgeous urban sunset, these are a few of our recent favourites.

Hope everyone is out enjoying the beautiful evening and has amazing plans for another weekend!

xoxo

Colleen & David’s Vancouver Convention Center Wedding

I don’t think Colleen & David stopped laughing on their wedding day – they wanted a party with all of their family and friends, and that’s what it was!

The day came together with gorgeous weather, the most genuine fun couple, and a dream team of vendors – and everyone had an incredible time. The huge bridal party kept things lively straight through to when the live band took over for the reception. Love it.

Shouts out to all the vendors involved (and some of my favourite people around!): Milestone Events, Upright Decor, Flowerz, Sweet Thea, Love Story Media, Jayna Marie & Famous Players Band.

Xoxo!

Amanda & Jason’s Rocky Mountain Wedding

We shared a glimpse of this wedding as a sneak peak, and wanted to get back to update with more of the images that made up this day.

As a February wedding in Alberta we were all set for snow and cold – and instead we got almost no snow at all, and gorgeous sunshine! They fool you in the photos into thinking it was warmer than it was, but for Alberta in the winter? It was downright balmy.

Nakoda on the Lake was the venue, near Canmore Alberta (between Calgary and Banff, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains), and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. They took over the place with family and friends staying on site, which is always a bonus. The cozy, rustic atmosphere was perfect for a weekend spent celebrating and laughing with friends and family who had travelled both short and long distances to be there with them.

Amanda & Jason – congrats again! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the two of you. Xo!

Baby Brielle | Coquitlam Newborn Shoot

Baby Brielle is here!

I adore her big, wide open eyes and all that hair! She was such a perfect angel when Reilly and I paid a visit to capture her tiny self at home with Mom & Dad. We had met up for a few maternity photos just a few weeks before (on the coldest possible day – Connie & Steve you are total troopers!), and the smiles on Mom-and-Dad-to-be only got bigger with the arrival of their baby girl.

Can’t wait to see her again next spring for her one year session, when I know she’ll be just about ready to start walking (if not already getting around on her own!)

Connie & Steve – congrats congrats, I know you will have an incredible summer & beyond with her  🙂

Xoxo!

Hey Edmonton! An update all about you – Blue Olive portraits, E-Town style

A giant hello to all of our favourite Edmonton peeps!

Reilly and I are going to be in Edmonton this week, and while we’re always available for weddings in the area, we only ever have portrait openings once or twice a year. This time, we not only have portrait session times, but they’re coming with a sweet Mother’s Day sale (also available locally in Vancouver, of course)!

Edmonton-Portrait-Photographers

We will be in Edmonton this coming Mother’s Day weekend, and we have a very limited selection of portrait times available! It’s a super rare chance for portraits with us in Edmonton, and we’re a little over excited.

New baby, crazy family of five, or just the two of you? Perfect. Kids that just want to run around and play all day (now that it’s nice out?) Even better. Blue Olive exists to capture gorgeous, real life images of the crazy troop that is your family, and we’re so excited to do that with our Edmonton peeps both past clients & friends and new clients & friends!

We’re also pre-booking sessions before and after August 5th (our next scheduled trip), and we’re doing it at the sale rate so if this weekend is a little too soon, we’ll make it happen in the summer.

Questions? Ready to snag your spot? Want to know more? Perfect – drop us a line at info@blueolivephotography.com and we’ll sort out the details

Can’t wait to see you!

Spring Baby!

It’s spring and I’m loving the cherry blossoms and blue sky out my window. I wanted to share one of our many adorable families from the spring shoots we’ve been doing, because there’s no better colour for spring than yellow and this shoot is making me melt!

Baby Beatrice was all smiles with mom and dad in their Vancouver apartment for our family shoot. J’adore!

(on the topic of spring, we still have openings for baby & family shoots this season, including a trip to Edmonton and area early May. Get in touch!)

xo!

Stefanie & Natalie’s English Bay Wedding

We always tell our couples that between the time we meet and the wedding day the plans will most definitely change… and sometimes much more than expected!

When we first chatted with these two, they were eloping to Vancouver for a teeny tiny wedding for two. Until, of course, those closest to them found out what they were doing and they chose to invite their family! I loved that their elopement up North to Vancouver, Canada turned into an excuse for a large family vacation. They stayed true to much of how they had envisioned their day – complete with mittens and warm jackets, a gorgeous (sunny!) ceremony with views of the water, and sneaking away here and there for lots of alone time. That rounded out with the happy tears of those nearest and dearest to them, and a reception at one of my favourite restaurants, The Refinery.

I think every wedding we shoot is my new favourite, so today this one is it! I loved capturing just a little hint of all the quiet moments taken together on a day they’ll be looking back at for years.

I also cry at every wedding, so I might as well fess up. At this one, it was during the ceremony – this was the ceremony they had planned this trip for, well before the thought of inviting guests or having a reception were considered. This was a ceremony that wasn’t legal in their state, but important enough to come to another country for. That moment when they stood in the warm sun of a winter day, holding hands overlooking the ocean… I don’t know if there was a dry eye there, but I cried then and I’m tearing up now just thinking about it. There’s a good reason we do what we do.

So, without more chatting on my part, enjoy just a peak into this elopement turned intimate wedding!

xoxo
